Participation and My Events
Tuesday morning. Ana opens Events to check what she has on her plate this week. The screen splits into three tabs: Participant (she's joined two trips), Organizer (she's running a small beginner hike on Sunday), Driver (she offered to drive on Saturday's Bucegi trip). Three different roles, one screen.
Events (sometimes labelled My events) is the operational hub. Everything you've committed to, organized, or driven, in one place.
The three tabs
You always see all three tabs even if you don't currently have activities in each. The shape of the list inside is the same for all three:
- Upcoming activities first, sorted by date.
- A collapsed "Past" section at the bottom with completed and cancelled activities.
- Compact cards: title, date, your status (joined / waitlist / pending / cancelled, etc.), and the operational badges (transport needed, equipment incomplete, deadline approaching).
Participant tab
Activities you've joined or requested to join. Status badges:
- Approved — you're in.
- Pending — the organizer hasn't decided yet (only on activities with
requiresApproval). - Waitlist — capacity is full; you're queued. If someone cancels, you're notified and offered the spot.
- Cancelled by you — you opted out. Stays here for reference.
- Completed — you went, the organizer marked you complete. From here you can write a review.
Organizer tab
Activities you created. Each card shows participants vs capacity, the deadline if minimumParticipants matters, and any pending join requests if approval is required. Tap through to manage. See Organizer.
Driver tab
Transport offers you've published. Each card shows your seats vs reservations, the pickup points you defined, and the assigned passengers. See Transport.
Joining an activity
From the activity details page, tap the primary action button. Its label depends on the activity:
- Join — direct join, no approval needed. You're in immediately.
- Request to join — for activities with
requiresApproval. Your status ispendinguntil the organizer decides. - Join waitlist — capacity is full. You go to the waitlist; position visible on your
Events > Participantcard.
If the activity needs equipment declarations or transport choices, the join sheet asks for those before submitting. You can:
- Pick which days you're joining (multi-day trips).
- Declare equipment from your
Profile > Equipmentinventory. - Indicate whether you need a transport seat or have your own car.
Submit. Status updates immediately.
Leaving an activity
From the activity page, the same primary button switches to Leave or Cancel my participation when you're already a participant. Tap it. A confirmation dialog appears with a destructive tone — this is your last chance to keep the spot.
Confirm and:
- Your status flips to
cancelledByUser. - The organizer is notified.
- The first person on the waitlist (if any) is offered your spot.
- If you had a reserved transport seat, it's released.
You can re-join later if there's still capacity.
Approval flow (for activities that require it)
Some organizers want to vet participants — Levente runs technical trips and prefers to approve climbers. When you tap Request to join, your status is pending.
The organizer then has three options from the participants screen:
- Approve — you become a participant. You're notified.
- Reject — your request is closed. You're notified.
- Wait — they sleep on it. You stay
pending.
You can cancel a pending request yourself, same flow as leaving.
Multi-day participation
For multi-day trips, you can join only the days that work for you. The participant card shows which days you're on. The transport board, equipment board, and per-activity discussion thread all behave per-day.
Offline behavior
Joining and leaving while offline are queued in the local outbox. The status updates locally so the UI is correct on your device, and the change replicates when you're back online. The organizer sees the join/leave only after sync.
If a join request fails after sync (for example, the activity hit capacity in the meantime), the app surfaces the conflict and asks whether you want to switch to the waitlist or drop the attempt.
When something looks off
- My participation status is "unknown". A sync glitch. Pull to refresh, or check
Profile > About > Clear local cacheif it persists. - I joined but I'm not in the participant list on the activity page. That list refreshes on a different cadence. Wait a moment or pull to refresh.
- The waitlist position never moves. It moves when someone above you cancels. If nobody cancels, you stay where you are.
- I got auto-cancelled. The activity hit
notFormedbecause not enough people joined by the decision deadline. Everyone who was joined is auto-cancelled at that point.
